Durante le fashion week non notarlo è impossibile. I suoi colori, il portamento, lo stile. Tutte doti innate che si materializzano nelle sue foto di street style: un concentrato perfetto di dettagli e luci. Lui è Karl-Edwin Guerre.

La prima volta gli ho scattato una foto di nascosto, poi mi sono fatta coraggio e gliel’ho mostrata chiedendogli un’intervista. “Ciao Karl, come stai? Mi chiedevo se…” e lui: “Elisabetta, tutti i miei amici mi chiamano Guerre. Sarà un piacere per me rispondere a qualsiasi domanda tu abbia per thechicbeat.”

Così ho scoperto che oltre ad essere terribilmente affascinante è anche un vero gentleman!

Quando è iniziato il tuo amore per la streetstyle photography e quando hai deciso di aprire Guerreisms?

Ho cominciato a fotografare per bisogno più che per amore. Volevo fotografare outfit ed elementi di stile che avrei voluto vedere e che apprezzavo. Così nel 2008 ho aperto Swagger360.blogspot che poi è diventato Guerreisms.com: più personale e maturo rispetto al primo. Rifletteva molto di più quello che avevo imparato in quanto a stile.

Come vedi il futuro della street style photography? Quale sarà il prossimo step?

Lo street style esiste da quando esistono le macchine fotografiche, è solo cambiato il format con cui viene proposto, guardato, visto, apprezzato. Il futuro è il passato – evoluzione e variazioni della stessa cosa semplicemente in forme diverse. Il mio prossimo passo è semplicemente di procedere con ciò che sento in termini di creazione, è così che ho cominciato, è così che navigo. Riguardo a ciò che verrà per gli altri che praticano questa “arte”, sono sicuro che una piccola percentuale faranno qualcosa di nuovo e gli altri seguiranno a ruota.

Dopo tutti i tuoi viaggi intorno al mondo, c’è una città che consideri la più “stylish” in assoluto?

Brooklyn ha un certo stile, un portamento innegabile, Firenze ha un suo charm classico durante il Pitti. Dire che una città ha uno stile è un po’ difficile perché ormai le culture sono molto meno distanti tra di loro, soprattutto grazie a internet. Oggi in ogni posto trovi tracce di altre città e culture.

In quale città c’è la più alta concentrazione di stile secondo te?

In tutte le città in cui le persone vanno per lavoro senza preoccuparesi dello street style. Dove le persone sono loro stesse in tutto quello che fanno, incluso nel vestirsi. Premesso che non amo tutti gli stili, rispetto e apprezzo “lo stile autentico”, quello che completa la persona e non che semplicemente la veste.

Hai un grande stile! Come lo descriveresti e dove prendi ispirazione?

Da qualche anno a questa parte mi piace definirlo Casual Fly. Diciamo che il mio stile non si limita a cosa indosso, ma ciò che indosso è l’immagine riflessa del mio stile. Casual fly significa semplicemente comodità e “pronto in qualsiasi momento”. L’ispirazione c’è ogni volta che apro i miei occhi e vivo. Cosa c’è di più stimolante al mondo che vivere?

During fashion weeks it’s impossibile not to be attracted by his colors, attitude and style: all these traits materialize on his street style photos, a perfect mix of details and lights. He is Karl-Edwin Guerre.

The first time I shot him on the sly, then I took courage and showed it to him asking for an interview. I called him Karl and he said: “Elisabetta, all my friends call me Guerre. It would be a pleasure to answer any questions you may have for thechicbeat.”.

That’s how I discovered that besides being terribly charming he is a true gentleman!

When did your love for the streetstyle photography started and when did you decide to start with Guerreisms?

I started photography out of need more than out of love. I wanted to shoot looks and elements of style that I wanted to see and appreciated. I started Swagger360.blogspot in 2008, I outgrew that name and site and transitioned into Guerreisms.com which was more personal and reflected more what I had learned in terms of style.

 What do you see as the future of street style photography? What’s the next step?

Street style has existed since cameras existed, all that has changed is the format in which it is shown, seen, viewed, appreciated. The future is the past – evolution and variations of the same thing simply via different formats. My next step is to simply go with what I feel in terms of creating, that’s how I started, that’s how I navigate. As far as the next step for the others who practice this ‘art’, I’m sure a small percentage will do something fresh and others will follow suit.

After all of your travels all around the world, do you have a city you consider to be the most stylish?

Brooklyn has a certain style that is undeniable in terms of attitude, Florence has a certain classic charm during Pitti Uomo. I think to say a city has style is a little dangerous because city cultures and lines are less distinct with the internet now. Every place has a trace of another place now.

What part of this city has the highest concentration of style?

The highest concentration of authentic style (in any city) is always where people go about their business without concern of street style. Where people reflect who they are in everything they do including the way they dress. While I may not like every style, I respect and appreciate ‘authentic style’ – style that compliments the person (not dresses, the person).

You have a great style! How would you describe it and where do you seek inspiration most often?

For years now I’ve used the term Casual Fly to describe my style. My style is not limited to how I dress, but how I dress is a reflection of my style. Casual Fly simply means comfortable and ready at all times. Inspiration for me starts the moment I open my eyes, for me inspiration is simply living – what can be more inspiring than life itself?
